There's no mistaking the work of acclaimed Marvel Comics artist Mike Del Mundo, which makes him perfect to serve as the subject of Clover Press' latest art book. The Marvel Art of Mike Del Mundo will highlight his extensive library of interior art and cover images, spanning books like Weirdworld, Vision, Elektra, Thor, The Avengers, and many more.
With the Kickstarter campaign for The Marvel Art of Mike Del Mundo now live, IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of the book. Check out the slideshow gallery below to see some of the stunning artwork featured within, along with some of the extras available as part of the crowdfunding campaign:
“I've always been a Marvel kid,” said Del Mundo in a statement. “I still remember the thrill of landing my very first gig with Marvel and then sprinting to the shop that unforgettable Wednesday to see it on the shelves. That moment meant everything to me. Fast forward 15 years, and somehow I’m still here, doing what I love, with a whole body of work about to be collected in a beautiful hardcover. It honestly feels surreal. 12-year-old me would be doing backflips right now!”
Like other books in the line, The Marvel Art of Mike Del Mundo is a 224-page 9" x 12" hardcover. The crowdfunding campaign includes numerous optional extras, such as prints, posters, stickers, a puzzle, signed books, and original sketches by Del Mundo.
“Del Mundo is an Eisner nominated and influential figure in the world of comics, and his art is celebrated for its innovation — and rightly so!” said Clover Press Publisher Hank Kanalz. “Fittingly, we’ve cooked up something brand new for his campaign: for the first time ever, the campaign will also feature a separate sketchbook, a 5 x 7.5 softcover that features Del Mundo’s sketches for the pieces that are in the actual book. You can read along and match up the sketch to the final art. It’s amazing to see the thought Mike puts behind every piece, and there’s always something new to find when I look at any particular page.”
The Marvel Art of Mike Del Mundo is live on Kickstarter now.
Other books in the Marvel Art of series have included have included The Marvel Art of Alex Maleev, The Marvel Art of David Mack, The Marvel Art of Russell Dauterman, and The Marvel Art of David Nakayama.
