The normal retail price of this box set is $125, which comes out to $25 per book. In reality, Amazon has had it priced lower than that before it was even released. It wasn't until today that it dropped to this new low price for the first time since it went up for preorder last year. At roughly $61, that comes out to just over $12 per book when you buy the box set. Considering the hardcover edition of Sunrise on the Reaping is sitting at $19 and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is $17 when you purchase them alone, it's definitely a better deal to buy this box set if you want the best price on the full hardcover collection.
That being said, you can certainly build your own collection of Hunger Games novels for cheaper if you can find used copies at your local bookstore. The benefit of the box set is also that it comes in an actual box, though. It's meant to be a collectible item that you can place on your shelf and it features the symbols from each of the books on the outside. The books themselves are just the standard hardcover editions of the novels, so It isn't as fancy as the Sunrise on the Reaping: Collector's Edition coming out later in November, but it is definitely a lot cheaper.
