Horror fans have participated in an adrenenaline-fuelled, horror-infused 3k run for a chance to watch The Strangers – Chapter 3 early.
Movie studios are putting audiences through their paces for preview opportunities at the moment.
Lionsgate hosted a “treadmill elimination event” for Stephen King fans who wanted to watch The Long Walk early, where viewers could watch the movie, but only while walking on a treadmill at a speed of more than 3mph for the 108-minute run-time.
Now that same studio is at it again, though rather than walking, their Strangers challenge has horror hounds running for three terrifying kilometres.
The Strangers – Chapter 3 fans given chance to live the horror
The immersive Strangers 3 race was held in Los Angeles, and spanned three kilometres to represent each of the new Strangers movies.
Runners were promised varied terrain during the night-time sprint, including fields, woodlands, and hills. While terror would come in the shape of Strangers characters emerging from the darkness to scare participants, alongside activations designed to test endurance.
Khailanonymous is one runner who survived the ordeal, and wrote on Instagram: “In honor of The Strangers 3 coming out a horror slasher escape 3k was held where you either win or you die. And people did lose.
“The course was held in a non-disclosed location filled with dirt roads, dark woods and broken down carousels. And of course the slashers themselves The Strangers would pop out when I least expected. It was high adrenaline the whole time.”
While Vamp said: “I do not run for fun, but I DO, RUN FOR MY LIFE!!!! In celebration of @thestrangersfilm I did a 3K Survival Run, and this Final Girl was making it through that finish line, or did I???
“I never realized that there is a certain motivation I need to run, and it’s 3 masked Strangers chasing me through the forest with an axe 🪓 And remember, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, or shall I say Stranger!”
Competitors who didn’t die were treated to a private screening of the movie, while everyone else can see The Strangers – Chapter 3 when it goes on general release tomorrow, February 6, 2026.
