If you’ve ever wanted to play The Witcher 3 online with friends, well, now you can, thanks to this remarkable mod made by dedicated fans.

Although CD Projekt Red’s open-world epic launched back in 2015, it remains a high watermark of the role-playing genre. It’s stood the test of time and, for our money, is still one fo the very best games money can buy today.

Developers are now heads down toiling away on the highly anticipated follow-up led by Ciri, not Geralt, but that hasn’t stopped the last entry from bubbling back to the surface. Just recently, reports pointed to a surprise Witcher 3 expansion dropping imminently.

Now, there’s even more reason to return to the sprawling adventure. A fan-made mod has added multiplayer support on PC, allowing multiple Geralts to run amok.

Simply called ‘Witcher Online,’ the mod was created by ‘rejuvenate’ on NexusMods. It’s currently available to download, alongside a raft of other plugins to help smooth out the multiplayer experience.

The idea is simple enough. You look for a server, jump in as a customized version of Geralt, and enjoy all the game has to offer, just with a few other Geralts running about.

The mod packs in support for text chat along with a batch of emotes so you can “roleplay” in the world. That’s the focus, for the most part, as the mod has a focus on relaxing and simply stumbling into other players as they’re out on “their adventure,” as the description reads.

It doesn’t support PVP, that’s not the focus here. Yet while you can take on AI monsters together, it’s more about the social experience, fishing with friends, or simply drinking at a local tavern.

You can open your map at anytime to see where all the other Geralts may be roaming.
