The world’s first-ever ‘slotharium’ is opening this year in Orlando, Florida, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with nature’s slowest critters.
Ever wanted to see a sloth in its natural habitat, with no glass or bars separating you from them? Now you can, thanks to Sloth World, an upcoming sloth-focused experience opening February 2026 in Orlando.
Sloth World isn’t a separate part of a pre-existing zoo where other animals live; instead, it’s an independent space fully focused on sloths, and will house more than 40 sloths from multiple different species.
Sloth babies will also be born on-site at Sloth World, which ultimately aims to teach the public about conservation and habitat protection efforts to safeguard the animals across the globe. In fact, a percentage of ticket sales will go toward rescue and habitat programs for sloths in Guyana, Costa Rica, and Peru.
Orlando is opening a sloth-only attraction with no cages or glass
The 7,500-square-foot area will put visitors directly into a tropical rainforest-like environment similar to sloths’ natural homes in Central and South America. A press release from Visit Florida states that Sloth World is a completely open-air enclosure built “entirely around [the sloths’] comfort,” where viewers can watch them as they “move, eat, climb, and rest naturally.”
“We want guests to feel like they’ve stepped into the sloths’ world, not the other way around,” Pete Bandre, Vice President of Sloth World, said in the press release.
“There are no cages or barriers. You step right into their environment. It’s peaceful, natural and unlike anything else. We want every visitor to walk out with a deeper understanding of how extraordinary these animals are, why their protection matters, and how simple actions can help support sloth populations around the world.”
Sloth World is a ticketed experience, where guides will take visitors on “intimate, structured” tours in small groups throughout the enclosure. These tours are completely hands-off and educationally-focused, allowing guests to see the critters up close while maintaining ethical practices.
Sloth World opens to the public in February 2026, with tours available from 9 AM to 9 PM, including holidays. Tickets are $49, and are expected to sell out months in advance as tourists prepare their travel plans.
