TheBurntPeanut has slammed players who are already giving Marathon a hard time, despite it not even being fully released yet.
It’s safe to say that Marathon has been a rocky road up to this point. The initial reveal of Bungie’s long-awaited extraction shooter underwhelmed, before it was involved in a plagiarism controversy that eventually saw the game pushed from 2025 to 2026.
Then, things started to turn around, as the newer footage released towards the end of last year was much more well-received. This meant there was still plenty of buzz when the free Server Slam trial went live, allowing fans to jump in for the first time.
But although the full game doesn’t launch until March 5, some players have clearly already made their mind up about Marathon, and popular stream TheBurntPeanut has urged them to give it a chance.
TheBurntPeanut tells Marathon haters to “shut up”
While live on stream, the creator, who made his name in extraction shooters like Escape from Tarkov and Arc Raiders, was reading comments calling Marathon “trash” and “garbage.” However, he was quick to call them out.
“‘Oh my goodness, look at me, I’m hating on the new game right when it released. I’m the coolest,'” he mocked, before screaming: “Shut up! This happens with every game.”
He then pointed out that many of the people who wanted him to stop streaming Marathon in favor of Arc Raiders had also roasted that game when it launched.
“Literally, the game you’re telling me to go play, Arc Raiders, you literally did it to as well. On day one,” he continued, before once again asking those viewers to “shut the f**k up.”
