Theo Von has his fans worried after reportedly struggling through the taping of his Netflix comedy special at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on September 27, 2025.
Von is a stand-up comedian and podcaster best known for his long-running show This Past Weekend, where he has interviewed high-profile guests including Donald Trump. He has built a reputation for his offbeat humor, Southern storytelling, and candid conversations about his upbringing and mental health.
However, his recent show has sparked concern from fans after his Netflix special taping was reportedly a brutal showcase filled with gaffes and embarrassing moments for the comedian.

According to reports from attendees, Von halted his performance as many as 10 times throughout the night. Audience members said he frequently left the stage, asked a producer to remind him of punchlines, and struggled to finish stories. Some estimated that nearly one-third of the crowd left before the show ended.
Clips circulating online show Von addressing the remaining crowd directly, telling them: “I’m having a long month, and I’m trying not to take my own life.”
Comments shared with Men’s Journal described the night as a “roller coaster,” with one noting: “He had to pause the show to ask for the punchline several times.” Another added, “He seemed unrehearsed and disorganized, repeating bits multiple times, clearly trying to get it right for the camera. This killed the vibe in the theater.”
Others who claimed to be at the show said it took him six tries to get through one anecdote and that he appeared exhausted and anxious. As of now, neither Von nor Netflix has commented publicly on the disrupted taping.
Just days before the Netflix taping, Von clashed online with the Department of Homeland Security after it posted a video on X that opened with a viral TikTok clip of him. Von’s now-deleted response called out the agency for using his likeness without asking, accusing them of misrepresenting his views and demanding that the clip be removed.
The DHSgov account later removed the video.
