Out Fishing is a first-person horror fishing game that aims to transform a tranquil pastime into a spine-tingling scare fest.
So far, 2025 has seen the reveal of several unique horror games. Eyes Never Wake lets the monster see you through your webcam, while Dark Mass aims to scare with its fully underwater environments. There’s even a horror game that uses AI to copy you and your teammates’ movements and voices.
However, if you’re looking forward to exploring Silent Hill f’s eerie environments and avoiding its fleshy enemies, then Out Fishing is another game that should be on your radar.
Described officially as a “first-person horror fishing game,” Out Fishing will have players peacefully reeling in their catch during the day, before fighting for their lives at night.
First-person horror fishing game aims to thrill
During the brief trailer, we see the main protagonist peacefully fishing in an abandoned lake, reeling in his catch, and storing it in a large freezer box. Hell, there’s even a little skimming stone segment. It all looks rather delightful, and would be the perfect way to unwind after a busy day at work; well, if it wasn’t for the horrifying creatures that lurk within the forest.
According to the game’s official description, “players must explore a haunted forest and uncover clues about a forgotten disappearance near the lake.” You’ll also need to return before the sun goes down, as creatures lurk beneath the lake.
So, essentially, you’ll be searching for rare fish during the day (Animal Crossing style) and then be tasked with exploring the frightening forests around you.
“Time is your enemy, but the farther you go, the closer you get to the truth. Fish, sell your catch, upgrade your gear, and build up your camp — a fragile safe zone where the line between memory and hallucination starts to blur.”
The “hallucinations” certainly have a Silent Hill feel to them, and it might explain why there’s a talking fish in the trailer. Finding Nemo with a hefty dose of sheer terror, anyone?
