GTA-style anime gacha game Neverness to Everness features a Wanted system where cops will chase you down if you steal cars or cause chaos.

NTE is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious gacha game releases of 2025, joining the likes of Silver Palace at the top of our wishlist. Unlike Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, which are set in fantasy worlds, NTE’s vast urban environments have more in common with GTA.

When it was first revealed on July 16, 2024, fans quickly dubbed it “anime GTA” after gameplay showed characters racing through city streets in luxury sports cars and motorbikes.

Thanks to a new livestream posted on June 22, 2025, Hotta Studios has confirmed that NTE is indeed the anime GTA game of our dreams.

NTE really is an anime-style GTA game

In the latest gameplay video, Hotta Studios showcased 46 minutes of new footage, including flashy character-driven combat, a dynamic weather system, and bustling city streets. But it’s the new “vehicle requisition” system that has GTA fans paying attention.

While players can peacefully take any car by flashing their badge, they can also take vehicles by force. One clip showed a character slashing an NPC with their weapon, triggering a wanted star.

Developers call this the “punishment system,” which closely mirrors GTA’s Wanted Level. Based on the footage, players can increase their Wanted Level to three stars by attacking civilians, running them over, or stealing from shops.

Although NPCs can’t be killed (they always dodge or flee), law enforcement will show up and begin shooting. And it’s not just cop cars, as drones will fly overhead and target players with bombs.

Once you’re blown up or gunned down (peace was never an option), you’ll be sent to the local jailhouse and forced to pay a hefty fine.

It’s important to note that not all NPCs will cooperate with your vehicle requisition attempts. Some will flat-out deny you, at which point players can “forcibly requisition” the vehicle – a flowery way of saying robbery.

As for whether you can outrun the authorities, that remains to be seen. The devs stayed tight-lipped, but we’ll find out soon when the NTE closed beta goes live on July 3.
