The internet’s favorite symbol of calm disaster is finally getting its own video game, and it’s unsurprisingly a tricky Metroidvania (though maybe not as hard as Silksong).
Most know about the classic ‘dog sitting in a burning room’ meme that originated from a 2013 comic by K.C. Green, where a dog sits calmly in a room that’s on fire, insisting, “This is fine.” It quickly caught on as the go-to reaction meme when everything is going wrong, but there’s nothing you can do about it, or when you’re pretending everything’s okay when it absolutely isn’t.
Well, now that meme is officially playable, with This Is Fine: Maximum Cope turning the classic meme into a full-on Metroidvania, and yes, you’ll probably end up in the same pose after dying for the 20th time in a row.
‘This is fine’ meme officially turned into a Metroidvania
As originally reported by NintendoLife and developed by Numskull Games, This Is Fine: Maximum Cope turns that quiet chaos into a side-scrolling adventure packed with hand-drawn humor and tricky platforming. Numskull is best known for publishing titles like Final Vendetta, Clive ‘N’ Wrench, and Battle Axe, so the studio knows how to mix challenge with charm.
A short teaser trailer shows off a cartoonish world filled with dangerous rooms, comedic enemies, and plenty of absurd hazards. You’ll fight, dodge, and, apparently, drink a lot of tea along the way, as you would expect from the cute little dog.
