A Norwegian electronics company is promising to give away free copies of GTA 6 to parents who manage to give birth on the day that the game releases. Seriously.

Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date has already been put back twice now. The highly-anticipated title was supposed to drop at the end of 2025, but was then pushed back until May 26, 2026. It has since been delayed again, with a new release date of November 19, 2026.

Take-Two, Rockstar Games’ publisher, is “confident” that the scheduled release will go ahead in November. That’s good news for anyone planning to take some time off school or work in order to fully immerse themselves in GTA 6.

However, if you’re based in Norway and want to get the game for free, as well as some time off to play it, then you just need to give birth on the day that it finally releases.

Norwegian GTA 6 fans can get it free, if they have a baby

That’s all part of a new marketing scheme from Komplett, an electronics retailer, who have promised to give away free copies to anyone who gives birth on November 19, 2026.

“This is actually not a joke, GTA 6 will be released in 9 months, and if you have a baby on the release date, you’ll get the game for free from us,” they posted on Instagram.

Komplett have also been marketing the plan with bedroom-themed posters that say “GTA 6 is dropping in 9 months,” with a winky face attached at the end as well.

Plenty of people have seen the funny side of the cheeky ads, with parents disagreeing that you’ll have time to play the game.

“As someone with children AND paid parental leave, let me be the first to say, when you have a newborn, you will NOT be playing a lot of video games,” one said. “What a waste! I doubt a baby would be able to fully comprehend the complexity of each mission,” another joked.
