A TikToker has hit back at a critic who claimed he is “wasting his talent” at his job with Papa John’s, despite the fact that the job has helped his success.
Over the years, plenty of TikTok stars have used their day job as part of their content. Some will share the monotony of their 9-5, while others have some pretty impressive skills that they use every day.
Dough Joe falls on the latter side of that. The TikToker has racked up over 3.1 million followers on the short-form video platform thanks to his impressive pizza-making skills as he regularly uploads clips from his days at Papa John’s.
With him having such a big following, some viewers may have thought that he’d be desperate to leave the pizza world behind. However, the TikToker has no intention of doing that, especially as one viewer claimed he is “wasting his talent” there.
Pizza maker hits back at TikTok critic
Dough Joe said he is “thankful” for his job and the opportunities it has given him, even if others don’t see it that way.
“I mean, honestly, I can understand where you’re coming from but what a lot of these comments don’t realize is I’ve been working for Papa John’s for six years now and I’ve been able to support myself through college, buy my first car,” he said.
“I’ve been able to do a lot of things thanks to this job. What you might say is a low skill or low paying job has actually taught me a lot. And I get it, not everyone is going to be excited to be a pizza maker, but what a wise man once told me is how you do anything is how you do everything.”
Plenty of viewers supported his clap back, echoing similar sentiments to the TikToker. “I worked for Papa John’s for 13 years and I bought multiple cars, a house, and graduated college while there,” one said.
“Papa John’s should pay you for all this marketing you doing for them,” another added. “It’s not easy being the face of Papa John’s. love you man,” another commented.
The video has racked up over 2 million views, with some even suggesting it has “revived” the TikToker’s “spark” for creating.
