One of TikTok’s most wholesome accounts for cat content has drawn questions over being AI after going viral for a few posts.

Artificial intelligence has quickly crept into different parts of everyday life. Some jobs have begun using AI to make menial tasks a bit simpler, while it’s hard to scroll on TikTok and YouTube in your free time without coming across something AI-generated.

Some platforms will flag AI content as being suspicious or not human, but this might come after self-reporting from the uploader or reports from viewers. It’s not a foolproof system, and many casual viewers are still being bamboozled by fake videos.

A fair bit of AI-generated content has gone viral on TikTok, with some of it targeting the wholesome corner of the internet. We saw that with the fake nursing home, Basin Creek Retirement, which went super viral over Halloween.

AI cats go viral on TikTok for sledding

Now, viewers have got their suspicions about another account – TailBitPets – which has been going viral over the last few weeks.

The account focuses on two cats, Loki and Max, who seemingly love to sled down stairs and snow-covered hills. Some of the videos have attracted millions of views, with the account amassing over 38,000 followers.

However, some of the videos contain telltale signs of AI. This includes one that has distorted text on a set of bowling pins as the cats slide into them, as well as the cats jumping backward, and appearing to carry a bucket up the stairs to slide back down in.

“It’s AI, I’m brokenhearted,” one commenter said. “I hope this isn’t AI, I’m still recovering from the bunnies,” another added. “I dont trust this at all,” another chimed in.

“I hate that I can’t thoroughly enjoy a video like this without thinking its AI,” commented another bamboozled viewer.

Others pointed out that the cats’ tails will vary in length during videos, another sign that it’s probably not real.
