New GTA 6 info has leaked through official court documents, revealing development details about VI’s Online mode and more.
Rockstar Games has been under fire amid allegations that it fired 32 employees for union-busting, something the studio denies. Instead, the GTA 6 developer has claimed that the staff were terminated for leaking info about its upcoming projects.
The situation reached court on January 12, and according to Rockstar Intel, multiple outlets were granted access to the court hearing, leading to several allegedly infringing Discord messages entering the public record. People Make Games reports that Rockstar alleges “top secret” information tied to an unannounced GTA 6 feature was shared inside a union-run Discord server.
During the hearing, Rockstar’s legal representative said he was unwilling to read the material aloud in open court, citing its extreme sensitivity, and instead asked the judge to review it privately.
That secrecy didn’t last. People Make Games later reviewed the filings and published portions of the documents themselves, and we may finally have some real info about GTA 6 Online.
Leaked Discord messages appear to reveal GTA 6 details
In one of the messages from October, a developer discussed a 32-player session that took place earlier in the day and how Rockstar didn’t want more than five people off at once.
“They mentioned the large session we did today being ‘too difficult to do,’ but that was 32 players. Not sure how that was difficult.”
Another dev then chimed in saying, “Sounds like ‘you have multiple studios of QA testers, surely someone can manage to organise a 32 player session and let people have their time off.’”
The mention hints that GTA VI’s version of GTA Online could once again allow sessions of at least 32 players. That doesn’t necessarily mean the entire open world would support that number, and it could very well end up being more, but it appears that 32 will indeed be the minimum. This could also apply to a specific mode or activity.
Rockstar has yet to officially unveil any info about GTA 6’s Online mode.
That’s not all. In another message from February 2025, an employee remarked, “I would both love and hate to know what uses of gen AI legal have approved.”
There have been plenty of rumors and patents pertaining to Rockstar’s use of AI in GTA 6, including procedurally generating building interiors and producing more realistic NPC behavior.
Previously, Rockstar confirmed that leaked GTA 6 information posted on social media was accurate, and the posts lined up with several key dates.
Details included over 700 buildings, gameplay info, new ways that weapons will function, the story length, and more.
