President Donald Trump has announced that the White House will serve as the venue for a UFC event in 2026, as part of the celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary.

Speaking at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on July 3, Trump told the crowd that UFC President Dana White is set to bring a fight card to the White House grounds, with plans to accommodate close to 25,000 spectators.

“We’re going to have some incredible events, some professional events, some amateur events,” Trump said. “But the UFC fight is going to be a big deal, too.”

The announcement adds to Trump’s longstanding association with the world of combat sports. Over the years, he has remained a visible figure at major UFC events, attending cards like UFC 302 and UFC 299.

Trump and Dana White’s enduring friendship

Trump’s relationship with UFC boss Dana White has spanned decades. White has praised Trump for supporting the UFC in its early days. In 2024, White introduced Trump on stage during the final night of the Republican National Convention.

Dana quickly reacted to the news in an Instagram stories post, and said: “This will be Epic!” As for who may appear on the card, however, Connor McGregor has already expressed interest in returning to the UFC for the fight.

If it moves forward as planned, the 2026 event would mark the first time the UFC—or any major sporting event—has been held on White House property. Details surrounding the fight card and participants are expected to be announced closer to the date.
