An artist who sold video game-inspired ‘prop’ knives at TwitchCon 2025 has issued an apology after receiving a 30-day ban from the platform when attendees made complaints about her wares.

TwitchCon 2025 has gone down as one of the most controversial events in the brand’s history after several negative incidents took place there over the weekend of October 17-19.

Most notably, popular streamer Emiru was assaulted by a fan who skipped her meet and greet line, forcibly grabbed her, and tried to kiss her. After fleeing the venue without being detained, he was permanently banned from Twitch and its live events. Emiru has confirmed that she is pressing charges against him.

VTubers at TwitchCon also stated that gifts they’d received from their fans were trashed by security guards, with IronMouse saying she was “heartbroken” by the situation. Another streamer claimed that malware had been installed on one of the PCs she was using at the event, compromising her privacy and forcing her to change her passwords.

Another incident that streamers noted took place at the TwitchCon Block Party, where an artist had set up their booth selling prop knives.

One streamer perusing the venue came across their booth and shared footage of it online, explaining that anyone could have “literally grabbed and walked out with” one of the knives.

“The shop itself was also at the very back corner, so there was barely anybody browsing it,” she wrote. “However, when my group all saw this at the same time, we all had the same concerned look without even saying a word. We noticed these the first hour of the party, so I immediately wanted to leave.”

The streamer said that she alerted TwitchCon security about the booth “immediately.” Her post went viral within the streaming community, sparking further concerns about attendees’ safety and security at the venue.

Artist apologizes after 30-day ban for selling prop knives at TwitchCon

On October 24, the artist who’d sold the knives, going by ‘Chierri’ online, spoke out about the situation, explaining that the knives were simply 3D printed ‘props’ inspired by weapons from video games and had been intentionally dulled to prevent injury.

She claimed that she’d had no issues throughout TwitchCon until the very last day, when she received a 30-day ban from the website.

“I understand how my props might still raise safety concerns under Twitch’s Event Code of Conduct,” she wrote. “I take full responsibility and sincerely apologize to Twitch, attendees, and anyone affected.”

However, the artist went on to claim that she had not received any prior warning from staff at TwitchCon, saying that “if anyone had flagged it, I would’ve immediately pulled the item and done whatever was in my power to make things right.”

“I have just been delaying on the post because of everything that happened. Twitchcon was an experience; it was great meeting new people along with my old friends. Hopefully, I can get to see it happen again,” he continued.

Chierri also explained that she’d appealed her ban, but it was denied, meaning that she will not be able to stream until mid-November.

Responses to her post have been largely sympathetic, with one writing, “You’ve been doing this for years, and all of a sudden they ban you for this without any comms or warning, when TwitchCon has the most Looney Tunes security of all time?”

“Incredibly harsh ban for something on Twitch’s side, and them retroactively doing this is crazy,” another said.

“Your booth was my favorite! I got so many things and wanted to buy more. I’m so sad to hear this and hope it can get resolved soon,” another remarked.
