Twitch CEO Dan Clancy admitted that he only put Kai Cenat on his Mount Rushmore of Twitch streamers because he was asked by Kai himself.
Over the years, there has been plenty of discussion about who would sit on the Mount Rushmore of Twitch streamers. Some creators and fans will, regularly, go deep into things and pick streamers who have been around since the Justin.TV days.
The likes of Sodapoppin, Reckful, Summit, Ninja, Lirik, and CohhCarnage are still regularly streaming on Twitch, but have been overtaken in popularity by more modern streamers like CaseOh, Kai Cenat, IShowSpeed, Ibai, Emiru, and ExtraEmily. However, their OG’s places on Mount Rushmore are regularly debated.
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy went for a mix of streamers when he was asked by Kai Cenat for his Mount Rushmore. In the end, Clancy chose Kai, Pokimane, Ninja, and CohhCarnage for the four slots – even briefly tipping IShowSpeed too.
Dan Clancy admits to choosing Kai because “he asked”
Those choices prompted backlash from some streamers, including xQc, who questioned why Sodapoppin, Reckful, and even himself were missed off.
Well, Clancy was quizzed on it again by Mizkif on October 10, admitting he only chose Kai because he was asked by the AMP Star.
“It probably should be more historical,” he said. “In other words, Kai is big now but, he asked me so I had to put him on there, but arguably its like ‘you’re great, but you can’t be on the Mount Rushmore yet’.”
Clancy added that “four is just too small” and admitted that you’re going to upset someone, regardless of who you pick.
“Part of it is, you just don’t remember people. Initially, I mentioned Speed and I swapped Speed out for CaseOh. Of course, all the eejits on Twitter were like ‘he doesn’t even know there are only four folks on Mount Rushmore.’ No, I know that.”
