A Twitch streamer is going viral for miraculously capturing two wild bats that decided his apartment was their new hangout spot in a chaotic broadcast.

Twitch streams are notorious for capturing absurd moments in real-time. From car crashes to thefts and even run-ins with celebrities, the world of live streaming is never a dull one.

One broadcaster discovered this the hard way in the middle of a stream on August 11, 2025. ‘KIRKCOBAINED’ was in the middle of an Old School Runescape stream when he noticed a furry critter flying around his room.

“There’s a f**king bat!” the streamer shouted in shock. “Sh*t! Guys, we gotta get a bat. I gotta capture this guy. You see ’em flying around, bro?”

It turns out that he’d left his window open during the broadcast, which explains how the bats managed to get inside.

The streamer swatted one of the bats out of the air with a towel and transferred the stunned creature into an empty box with a spatula, even though it tried to fly away from him and make an escape.

He managed to do the same with the second bat, safely setting both of them free outside his window, which he promptly closed behind them.

“I’m freaked out now,” he joked after returning to his viewers, one of whom urged him to get a rabies vaccine.

“Why would I need to get a rabies shot? I didn’t get bit. It’s not daytime,” he retorted. “They weren’t attacking me.”

While Kirk thankfully emerged from the wild situation unscathed, the CDC recommends getting a Rabies Post-Exposure Prophylaxis vaccine if you’ve had any close contact or exposure to a rabid bat, whether or not a bite has occurred.

However, the Washington State Department of Health notes that ‘bats in bedrooms’ situations are generally considered low-risk events. In fact, a study from Canada1 shows that the chance of getting rabies from a bat in the home without recognized contact is 1 case in 2.7 billion person-years.

With this in mind, it’s safe to say that Kirk is likely unharmed (although the bats might be a bit frazzled by the whole experience). While his methods might not have been exactly in line with US Fish and Wildlife recommendations, which suggest keeping doors and windows open to allow bats to leave on their own, the critters were safely deposited outside in nature after just a short time trapped inside his house.
