Umamusume fans have helped raise more than $400,000 USD to support a Japanese racehorse retirement farm that is home to former top-level runner Transcend.

The crowdfunding campaign is for Versailles Farm, which is raising funds to construct a fourth stable to improve living conditions for its retired horses. Donations currently sit at ¥62,398,000, roughly $400,000 USD, putting the project within reach of its $450,000 USD goal.

Among the horses living at the ranch is Transcend, a former dirt racing star best known for his success in major Grade 1 events, including the Japan Cup Dirt. After retiring from racing, Transcend was welcomed to Versailles Farm, where he now lives alongside other retired thoroughbreds requiring long-term care.

Transcend’s reach has expanded well beyond Japanese racing fans in recent years, driven in part by her appearance in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The hit title has introduced the former dirt racing star to a global audience, with that renewed attention translating into real-world support for retirement farms like Versailles.

The farm has already cleared its initial ¥50 million milestone ($320,000), unlocking plans for a new stable designed to provide a safer and more comfortable environment for both current residents and future arrivals. With less than two weeks remaining before the December 28 end date, supporters are now working to push the campaign over the final target before it closes.

This isn’t the first time Umamusume fans have rallied behind real racehorses. On December 17, players helped raise over $600,000 USD to rebuild stables for the iconic horse Meisho Doto.
