An Umamusume plushie has been recalled after fans noticed a major design flaw, prompting an apology from the manufacturer.

Plush maker Gift confirmed that its Vivlos plush was released with incorrect human-style ears, rather than the horse ears that are a defining part of every Uma’s design. The issue was first spotted by fans shortly after the item went on sale and quickly spread online.

According to Gift, the problem was caused by a stitching error, which resulted in ear-shaped parts that do not exist in the original design being attached to the plush.

“A defect has been identified in the Umamusume Pretty Derby Plush Vivlos sold at Comiket 107,” Gift said in its official statement. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and pledge to make it right by offering refunds or exchanges.”

Gift confirmed that customers can choose between a full refund or an exchange for a corrected product, with replacement plushes scheduled to ship in early May 2026, while refund or exchange requests are will be accepted through March 31, 2026.

The affected item was sold for 6,500 yen, around $45 USD, during Comic Market 107 on December 30 and 31, 2025, as well as at AmiAmi’s Akihabara Radio Kaikan store in Tokyo.

Vivlos is an Umamusume character based on a real Japanese racehorse of the same name, best known for winning the Dubai Turf in 2017 before being reimagined as an unlockable character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.
