Twitch star Valkyrae says she’s tempted to move back to YouTube, because streaming on Twitch feels “gross.”

Rachell Marie Hofstetter, better known as Valkyrae, is one of the biggest streamers on the internet with millions of followers across Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms.

On October 26, the 100 Thieves co-owner went live to play Among Us and Digimon, but first addressed some of the drama plaguing the platform in October.

The month saw numerous controversies, such as Emiru being assaulted by a man at TwitchCon, allegations made against Mizkif, and Nina Lin and Zoe Spencer being banned for two days after an assault clip resurfaced.

According to Valkyrae, the situation has her questioning whether she wants to be on Twitch going forward.

Valkyrae considers quitting Twitch for YouTube

Speaking to her viewers, the 33-year-old said that she had a long talk with fellow streamer QTCinderella about some of the statements released by other content creators.

“It’s been a wild week, you guys. It’s been crazy. It makes me feel like streaming is so gross,” she said. “I feel like because I’m a streamer, it’s just gross.”

“A part of me is like, I just want to quit streaming on Twitch and just only be on YouTube again. It just feels gross. I feel gross just being around it, being associated with it, being in the eyes of some crazy people. I’m not sure things are going to change for the better.”

Later in the broadcast, Hofstetter admitted that she wouldn’t be quitting streaming over everything that’s happened, noting that she has many employees. However, she left the door open to potentially going back to YouTube.

“This is the first time I’ve actually considered just getting off the internet. But I can’t. I have employees to take care of.”

A bit later on, Valk addressed the Emiru-Mizkif situation, revealing that Emiru gave her a heads-up that she would be going public with her allegations against Mizkif.

“It’s a mess. It’s very messy. It sucks. It just sucks. I feel so bad for Emiru,” she remarked. “I just feel like the streaming space sucks. It’s embarrassing. I don’t even want to be a streamer anymore.

One of those reasons is also stalkers, she said. “There is just so many creeps and weirdos on this platform or viewers, like stalkers. I don’t think you know how common stalkers are.”

According to Valkyrae, the stalker situation has gotten worse over time, with every streamer she knows having at least one.

We’ll have to see what her future on Twitch looks like and if she ends up moving back to YouTube full-time, but it’s clear that many creators are growing increasingly upset at the state of Twitch after everything that’s happened in October.
