Streaming star Valkyrae has issued a follow-up statement to her comments defending fellow broadcaster Hasan from accusations that he allegedly uses a shock collar on his dog, Kaya.
Hasan and his dog, Kaya, are a hot topic on social media after a clip from his October 7 Twitch stream went viral. In the broadcast, Kaya stood up from her doggy bed, which was in view of the camera.
After Hasan urged Kaya to get back on her bed, she hopped back up into it, but yelped as if she were startled or hurt by something. The incident sparked a heated debate online, with critics accusing Hasan of using a shock collar to get the dog to stay on camera.
Hasan speculated that she may have caught her dew claw on the bed, and later showed her collar on his stream, claiming that it had a vibration function, AirTag, and alarm, but no ‘shock’ element.
His explanation hasn’t satisfied detractors, though, many of whom are demanding he show further proof that her collar isn’t a ‘shock’ device. The situation has gone viral, attracting the opinions of many other streamers in the space.
Valkyrae reacts to “horrible” clip of Kaya on Hasan’s stream
Valkyrae is one such streamer who offered her thoughts on the ordeal during one of her own broadcasts on October 9. At first, she agreed that the clip didn’t paint Hasan in a good light, and claimed that Kaya is being treated well.
“First of all, the clip did look horrible,” she admitted. “The clip was really bad, and it’s understandable why everyone was freaking out about it. But I can verify that Kaya is the most loved, spoiled, well-trained, and best big baby that I have ever been around.”
Rae went on to say that the “outrage” surrounding the incident would be better served being put to use toward current social and political issues, saying critics’ “priorities are not where they should be, but alas.”
“I think from the clip it was understandable why people were very concerned,” she continued. “But just knowing Hasan and knowing how I’ve been around Kaya a lot, I know he would never abuse her.”
The streamer’s response to this criticism garnered its own section of backlash. Some viewers took issue with her stance on the outrage, arguing that one issue does not cancel out another, different one.
“You can care about more than one thing,” one user argued on X, accusing the streamer of treating her concerns about social issues like the “next big trendy topic.”

The situation garnered so much attention that Rae responded to this user, reiterating that she felt people’s outrage was “understandable” and saying she wished she could have changed her wording.
“Yes, of course you can care about more than one thing at once! I do see now how this comes off as deflecting and takes away from the topic at focus, which I wish I could go back and reword it all or at least mention it far later in the conversation,” she wrote.
Her response has also been met with mixed reactions, and it’s just the latest public statement on the matter to spark conversation online.
