Pumpkin carving is a staple of the Halloween season, and this free MMO lets you do it without getting your hands dirty, all while decorating a cozy town.

The Annual Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival, created by Adam Robinson-Yu, who also made A Short Hike, first launched back in 2020 during the pandemic. While people were stuck indoors, it gave them a way to celebrate the spooky season from the comfort of their homes.

Players create their own adorable ghost avatar before carving their own pumpkins and placing them around the town. There are also loads of mini activities to take part in as you walk or, I guess, float around.

It’s returned every year since it first launched, and this year, it’s back and bigger than ever before. It can now accommodate a whopping 800 players at once, up from the 200 in previous years.

The creator also teased that there are “new areas and secrets to find.” This includes the Ghost Town Cinema, which plays old silent movies.

How to play Annual Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival

You can download The Annual Ghost Town Pumpkin Festival for free by heading over to the game’s website. However, the only downside is that it’s only available on PC.

When you hit ‘Download Now,’ you’ll be given the option to donate some money to the developer. This is 100% optional, and you can still play without spending a penny, but if you support the development by paying at least $2, you can download a special version with unique Halloween hats.

The servers are live now and will remain up for the rest of October and early November, before going offline again “1-2 weeks” after Halloween.
