A school teacher has gone viral as she has now contacted the police after a Hello Kitty Funko Pop was taken by a student in her classroom.
Teachers routinely decorate their classrooms in different themes and styles. Some focus on things they love, while others try and use the curriculum for the upcoming year in fun and different ways.
Over on TikTok, Ms Dawson, a school teacher in Texas, has given her classroom a Hello Kitty-themed makeover. This has included bringing some of her own personal Hello Kitty memorabilia from home, including a clock and Funko Pops.
One of her Funko Pops, which was gifted to her by a previous student, however, was taken from her desk back in late September. She has been documenting the saga, hoping for it’s return, claiming a student “kidnapped” the sentimental item.
Hello Kitty Funko stolen from teacher
In mid-October, though, after having a short break from work, Dawson revealed that she is now getting police involved by filing an official report. That comes after viewers told her that the Funko Pop was worth close to $300, along with the sentimental value.
“I am finally filling a police report. I was out for a few days last week, I had a sub, and I let all my students know to have integrity and just put my Hello Kitty back on my desk and no one would know a thing,” she said in her video that has gotten over 15 million views.
“It still has not been returned. I already got a note about my students not behaving well with the sub and my Hello Kitty has not been returned, so I am finally filling a police report. It is a shame that I can’t feel comfortable and safe in my classroom as I have in the last few years.”
Dawson added that is is “heartbreaking” and something she has never experienced before. “I did not know this was valuable. It was sentimental to me because a student bought me this six years ago,” she continued.
The teacher has not provided an update since filing the report, but has received other figures from students, colleagues, and viewers since.
Dawson has also been called a “literal angel” by TikTok viewers for continuing to reward students as well, despite the stolen item. “You’re nicer than me, the way I be a Villian and make up a test,” one said.
