Vision Quest report reveals one key plot detail and Marvel villain’s return with a twist

Vision Quest is currently in development at Marvel Studios, and one of the MCU’s villains is set to return… with an unexpected twist.

Vision died (again) in WandaVision, but a version of him still exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: White Vision, a rebuilt synthezoid activated by SWORD that had been sent to kill Wanda and her other Vision.

By the end of the series, he acquired Vision’s memories and left Westview, and that was the last time he was seen or mentioned in the franchise.

That will change in 2026, with Vision Quest set to explore what happened next – and it could involve a familiar face (well, voice).

Ultron to return in Vision Quest in human form

Not only will James Spader return as Ultron in Vision Quest, he’ll reportedly appear in human form, according to insider Daniel Richtman.

Spader, who famously debuted in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, was confirmed to reprise his role last year, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.

As the outlet pointed out, Ultron was seemingly destroyed by Vision at the end of the movie, so it’s unclear exactly how he’ll return in the series.

Richtman also included another detail in his report: “In Vision Quest, White Vision travels to Madripoor in search of his memories and humanity.”

Madripoor is a significant location in the world of Marvel. It’s a (fictional) Southeast Asian island famed for its lawlessness, and for comics readers, it has a big connection to Wolverine. It first appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Sharon Carter (the Power Broker) using the island as her base of operations.

There are other rumors about the show. In an earlier post, Richtman reported that Ruaridh Mollica isn’t playing ‘Tucker’ – he’s actually playing Tommy Maximoff, aka Speed, Wanda and Vision’s other son and Billy’s twin.

Terry Matalas, the showrunner on Vision Quest, also told Katee Sackhoff: “White Vision is not a thing you really want to say in this environment a lot, but it’s who it is and it is following that character and that character’s journey.”
