VTuber Usada Pekora claimed she was “embarrassed” after meeting her own avatar that was featured by Hideo Kojima as a cameo in Death Stranding 2.
Death Stranding 2 isn’t just brimming with interesting easter eggs, but given Kojima is at the helm, it also features a plethora of celebrity appearances. Ranging from the main cast to minor characters, Kojima has included plenty of big names out there as part of the game.
As revealed before it was even released, the cameos certainly aren’t limited only to famous people in real life, as well-known VTuber Usada Pekora was also spotted in the game.
Now, the virtual rabbit-eared icon has finally made a move to essentially meet her counterpart in the game in a recent stream, and her reaction was absolutely priceless.
As seen in a clip on YouTube, Pekora was excited when she found that it was finally time to deliver a package to the Data Scientist. After hearing herself speak for a brief while, however, things took a different, unexpected turn.
“What the heck is this? I feel very embarrassed,” she said with a nervous laugh.
When Pekora’s avatar finally appeared in the game, the Hololive VTuber couldn’t help but seemingly find the situation awkward in a funny way.
“I’m so embarrassed,” she said again. “She’s still yapping.” Despite being utterly embarrassed, she did mention that she was “happy,” according to the translation of the clip.
Pekora then revealed more about her lore as she was playing the game, mentioning that “Pekoland” is actually in Australia. For the uninitiated, this location is Pekora’s fictional birthplace.
During the stream, she also went the extra mile to obtain the Nousagi Cap, a rabbit hat with carrots on its sides.
This item is a nod to Pekora’s appearance. One detail worth pointing out is that while wearing it, there’s a chance that Sam would randomly say the VTuber’s well-known catchphrase: “Peko!”.
