Warner Bros. Games is diving back into the live service space, and once again, they’re using a DC Comics IP to do it.

Despite a rocky history in the genre, including the underwhelming launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the fading momentum of Multiversus, the studio isn’t backing down.

Gotham Knights also failed to make a lasting impact, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s poor reception led to major layoffs at Rocksteady. Even Multiversus, which launched with early buzz, struggled to maintain its player base post-launch. Now, Warner Bros. is back and hiring for a new live service project.

New Warner Bros. live service game coming soon

A recent job listing confirms that the company is working on a new AAA title based on one of its DC or Warner Bros. IPs. The listing calls for an Executive Producer to “lead the development of a high-quality AAA game based on one of the iconic IPs from the vast Warner Bros. and DC Comics catalog,” meaning the game’s likely still in early or mid-development, since the role typically plays a key part in pre-production.

It also makes clear this will be another live service title, asking for someone who can “oversee post-launch content and live service strategy, ensuring ongoing player engagement.”

No specific franchise is named, but the AAA scope and focus on live service strongly suggest Warner Bros. is aiming for another blockbuster release tied to a major character or universe.

The listing leaves plenty of room for speculation. Given Rocksteady is already linked to the next Batman project, it’s unlikely this new title will feature the Dark Knight. But with Superman seeing a resurgence thanks to the film, the timing could make sense for a Superman-led live service title.

Whatever the final IP turns out to be, Warner Bros. is clearly doubling down on live service. Whether players want it or not.
