Warzone players on PlayStation and Xbox have been unable to use voice or text chat, with the game telling them that ‘Voice and text chat disabled due to platform restrictions.’ This is confirmed to be a bug, and the devs are investigating it.
When Warzone integrated with Black Ops 7 on December 4, adding all of the new title’s weapons and Operators alongside the new Haven’s Hollow map, console players were unable to use the in-game communication methods.
The issue was briefly resolved during Black Ops 7’s free trial, but players began reporting it again on Monday, December 22.
Warzone voice chat error being investigated
On their known issues in Call of Duty: Warzone page, the devs highlighted the issue where “I got a message saying ‘Voice and text chat disabled due to platform restrictions.'”
“Teams are investigating an issue causing some players to receive notification that voice and text chat has been disabled when attempting to party up or use social features,” they said. It’s also listed on their Trello board of known issues.
There’s no timeline on when to expect a fix, but we wouldn’t expect an update until the devs return from their holiday break in the new year. Shortly after, Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 1 Reloaded kicks off, bringing new weapons, a Fallout crossover, and more.
The page also includes an issue where players can’t equip Black Ops 6 Ranked Play Operator skins, and they’ve disabled the Yokai, Cull, and Nocturne skins for Riptide and the Numbers skin for Woods while they “investigate a display issue.”
If you play with friends on other platforms, a temporary workaround for being unable to use the in-game voice chat is to switch to Discord, but you won’t be able to use the in-game text chat.
Some have also said that upgrading to PlayStation Plus fixes the issue on PS4 and PS5, but it doesn’t appear to work for everyone.
