The Warzone Season 5 update appears to have brought an end to the LC10’s reign as the meta SMG after a massive nerf, with another rival stepping up to take its place.
Every new CoD update brings a batch of fresh content, from new weapons to try out to a Battle Pass stuffed full of skins to unlock. They also come with plenty of weapon balancing changes, designed to keep fights interesting.
Season 5 is no exception, with plenty of fan-favorite guns getting some much-needed adjustments. The close-range meta, in particular, has been given an overhaul, as the LC10, which dominated most of Season 4, was hit with a substantial nerf.
Ladra set to be the number one SMG in Warzone Season 5
As detailed in the patch notes, the LC10 saw its range decreased across the board, making it slightly less effective at mid-range. It also got a 15ms ADS speed reduction, so it’ll be much harder to snap onto targets quickly going forward.
But the final nail in the coffin was the damage nerf, as its headshot multiplier went from 1.15x to 1.12x, and its limb and torso multipliers also suffered a hit. While none of these changes on their own are enough to make it unusable, when you add them altogether, it’s tough to see it keeping its spot as the number one SMG.
So, what should you use going forward? Well, plenty of SMGs have been given a buff, from the KSV to the PPSh-41, but it’s the Ladra that stands above the rest.
It was already one of the best SMGs in the game, but a one-meter improvement to its maximum damage range and a huge headshot multiplier buff, from 1.15x to 1.22x, is set to make it a force to be reckoned with in Season 5.
The C9 will also be a strong contender, as it’s the more versatile of the two, but when it comes to sheer power and TTK, the Ladra is top dog.
