Two of Warzone’s fastest-killing weapons have been nerfed into the ground in the July 16 update, knocking them out of the meta entirely.
Throughout Season 4 and Season 4 Reloaded, the Warzone meta has been dominated by the TR2 and DM-10. While the usual selection of Assault Rifles remained popular, these Marksman Rifles became the go-to for many players thanks to their much superior TTK.
Although the DM-10 was hit by a small nerf on July 8, it was still a deadly option in the right hands. Meanwhile, the TR2 emerged as the fastest-killing gun in the entire game, as long as you could master its semi-automatic fire rate.
Now, though, it appears that their time in the sun has officially ended, as both have been hit by massive nerfs.
In the July 16 patch, both rifles were handed major damage nerfs. The DM-10 went from 63 to 78 in its maximum damage range, while the TR2 went from 59 down to 45. They also lost 10 and 14 damage, respectively, at their minimum damage ranges.
That wasn’t all, as the latter also saw its bullet velocity, ADS speed, and sprint-to-fire speed weakened, making it noticeably less forgiving across the board.
These changes sound substantial enough on paper, but when you see the effect on both weapons’ time-to-kill, the effect is clear as day.
CODMunity shared a comparison graph on X, and the two Marksman Rifles are now far behind the meta Assault Rifles in terms of TTK. The Cypher, Grau, and FFAR 1 now kill faster at every range, with the DM-10 around 400ms off the pace up to around 40 meters.
The TR2 remains the stronger of the duo, but it doesn’t start to compete until the 65-meter mark, and even then, its 900ms TTK is still slightly slower than the meta ARs, which are closer to 850ms.
Of course, any weapon can be lethal as long as you’re hitting your shots and challenging at the right times, but there’s no doubt that the meta has shifted back towards automatic Assault Rifles.
The change has received a mixed reaction from fans, with some glad to see the TR2 go, while others have labelled the nerf “stupid” and called the meta “boring” as a result.
