Weapons is currently filling cinemas everywhere it plays, but if you’re waiting to watch the movie at home, here’s what we know about streaming plans.

Weapons is the most talked about movie in the world right now, having already grossed more than $100 million worldwide, from a reported budget of $38 million.

Response to the film has also been almost universally positive, and we gave the movie five-stars, writing in our Weapons review that it “does everything a good horror movie should, delivering chills and scares via a story that gets under your skin, before concluding two hours of tense set-up with a truly wild pay-off.”

There have also been fan theories aplenty going viral, concerning Gladys, demons, and that seven hot dog lunch. But if you’re waiting to stream the movie before diving into all those explainers, here’s what we know…

How to watch Weapons now

Weapons is exclusively playing in cinemas right now. The film debuted on August 8, 2025, and opened in first place at the US box office, well ahead of its closest rival, Freakier Friday.

The film enjoyed a $42.5 million opening weekend in the US, which is huge for a horror movie, and the biggest debut for an original feature since Sinners in June.

Its major competition this weekend consists of action sequel Nobody 2, and Spike Lee joint Highest 2 Lowest, so there’s a good chance Weapons will hang onto that top spot.

When will Weapons be streaming?

Weapons could be streaming as soon as September 8, which is just 31 days after the movie was released in cinemas.

That’s because Weapons is a Warner Bros. horror movie, like Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. Back in June, that film had a 31 day theatrical window, hitting big screens on June 4, and debuting on HBO Max on July 4.

But other Warner releases have taken much longer to make that move, with A Minecraft Movie hitting Max after 77 days, Dune: Part Two taking 81 days, Godzilla x Kong taking 97 days, and Barbie taking a whopping 147 days. Though to be fair, the latter was the highest grossing movie in cinemas that year.

So much will depend on the business Weapons does theatrically over the next couple of weeks.

Where will Weapons be streaming?

Weapons is a Warner Bros. production, so will likely stream on the studio’s HBO Max channel.

That’s not to say every Warner Bros. movie launches on that streamer; for example, Red One was produced in collaboration with Amazon MGM, so ended up on Prime Video first. Similarly, Jason Statham’s A Working Man debuted on Amazon’s streaming service.

But Weapons was made entirely in-house, with the studio landing writer-director Zach Cregger’s script after a huge bidding war, so the likelihood is that the movie will also stream in-house.

When will Weapons be on digital?

Weapons could be available to buy or rent digitally by September 12, 2025.

That’s again going by the Sinners model, which hit cinemas on June 3, and digital platforms on July 8, meaning a window of 35 days.

Warner’s two other big summer releases also had short gaps between cinemas and digital, with A Minecraft Movie available to buy or rent 39 days after theatrical, and Superman taking just 37 days. So again, the studio will be keeping an eye on how it does in cinemas before making that digital decision.
