The trailer for Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 has dropped, and features the return of a dead character, and a cameo from Lady Gaga’s voice.
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 has only just dropped, but Netflix is already gearing up for the release of Part 2. Those first four episodes featured a serial killer, Pugsley’s arrival at Nevermore, and a premonition that triggered a brand-new mystery.
We wrote in our Wednesday Season 1 Part 1 review that “after nearly three years of delays, rewrites, cast reshuffles, and TikTok-fuelled fan theories, The Addams Family have finally re-emerged from their collective coffins. Unfortunately, even Jenna Ortega can’t save Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 from hitting countless bum notes.”
Now the end of that story is about to unfold, with Lady Gaga playing a Nevermore teacher, and the return of a beloved character.
Principal Weems is back from the dead in Wednesday Season 2
Marilyn Thornhill murdered Principal Weems at the end of Wednesday Season 1, injecting the shapeshifter with deadly nightshade. But as played by Gwendoline Christie, Larissa Weems is back in Season 2, as revealed at the start of the new trailer.
Wednesday herself was seemingly dead at the end of Part 1, but we knew that couldn’t really be the case. And it isn’t, with Wednesday waking up in a hospital bed at the start of the teaser, and Weems standing over her.
“Rise and shine sleepyhead!” she says to the shock and disgust of her patient, before adding, “It’s time for your sponge bath.”
When Wednesday questions, “What ring of hell is this?” Weems responds with, “This isn’t hell, Miss Addams, but I understand the confusion… I am your new spirit guide. Surprise!”
There are laughs in the trailer, because as only Wednesday can see her, it looks like she’s talking to herself. While with Tyler trying to kill both Addams and Enid, Weems also gives critical advice, telling Wednesday, “If you don’t hurry, you’ll have nothing left to save.”
Lady Gaga can be heard in the new trailer
The other major talking point from the trailer is Lady Gaga’s appearance, via the singer’s voice.
Speculation had been rife over who Gaga would play, and we now know the role is that of Rosaline Rotwood, “a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.”
We can also hear her 1 minute and 30 seconds into the above trailer, telling (presumably Wednesday) to “beware, there will be a price to pay.” Which suggests that to save her friend, Addams might have to make a major sacrifice.
