A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 has now concluded, so here’s what the actors who played Dunk and Egg are up to next.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has made stars of its two leads, Ser Duncan actor Peter Claffey, and Egg actor Dexter Sol Ansell.
A big part of the show’s success was down to the pair’s chemistry, as the fledgeling Hedge Knight takes the youngster under his wing as squire.
The characters ended the series heading to Dorne in search of new adventure, while this is what the actors are now working on…
Peter Claffey has two movies in the can
Former rugby player Peter Claffey was perfectly cast as Duncan, bringing the character’s bravery, sincerity, humility, and loyalty to life, all while being built like a brick sh*t-house.
Before AKotSK, Claffey had recurring roles on TV shows Wreck, Viking: Valhalla, Borderline, and most notably Bad Sisters.
As for what’s next, Claffey has completed a TV movie called Compound Fractures, in which he plays a nurse opposite late, great, Cheers star George Wendt.
While he also plays the lead in You’ll Never Believe Who’s Dead, a comedy feature with the following synopsis: “An Irish family gathers for Christmas and discusses a local robbery. After debating how they’d pull off a better heist, they unintentionally end up testing their plan in reality.”
Dexter Sol Ansell is travelling ‘500 Miles’
Dexter Sol Ansell was adorable as Egg, imbuing the character with innocence, curiosity, compassion, and a wisdom beyond his years.
Before A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Ansell was best known for his performance as Young Coriolanus in The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
He’ll next be seen opposite Bill Nighy in 500 Miles, about two brothers who run away from home to search for their estranged grandfather on the west coast of Ireland.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 is next
As for what the dynamic duo are up to now, both Claffey and Ansell are busy shooting A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2, which is based on George R.R. Martin’s second Dunk & Egg novella, ‘The Sworn Sword.’
HBO was so confident in AKotSK that the sequel series was green-lit before Season 1 launched, and principal photography is currently taking place at Belfast’s Titanic Studios.
Here’s the official synopsis of the source material: “After the deaths, surprises, and heroics in The Hedge Knight, Dunk and Egg continue their journey in search of the fair puppeteer Tanselle. Along the way, the elderly knight Ser Eustace takes both men under his charge, alongside another knight – and this one promises trouble.
“Peace is ever elusive for Dunk and Egg, as they are soon embroiled in the schemes of local nobility, while a darker, greater thread threatens to unravel long-held truths of the Battle of Redgrass Field.”
