Fortnite‘s pickaxe collection is legendary, and it’s no surprise, coming from a game that has Adventure Time, Star Wars, and Marvel cosmetics. However, some of them are much rarer than others.
With so many pickaxes coming in and out of the shop and exclusive rewards tied to limited-time promotions, how do you know which ones are the rarest?
From special collaborations to challenging tasks, here’s the ultimate list of the 20 rarest pickaxes in Fortnite.
Rarest pickaxes in Fortnite
1. Blade of Champions
- Release date: Nov 13, 2024
It’s a glowing, futuristic sword with sharp, angular edges and a fiery energy coming off of it. Only a select few players have unlocked this legendary pickaxe after winning Fortnite’s FCS tournament. It’s super exclusive, making it the rarest pickaxe out there. If you got it, you know you’re among the elite.
2. Axe of Champions
- Release date: May 10, 2025
This OG version has a slick, gold design, making it even more majestic than the 2.0 one. You can’t get it, though, as it was replaced by the 2.0 version. This means that, unless you won a tournament before Chapter 6 Season 3, you will not be able to wield this trophy.
3. Merry Mint Axe
Release date: Nov 6, 2019
The Merry Mint Axe features a bright, candy-cane style with red, white, and green stripes. This one’s a fan favorite, no doubt. It’s a re-skin of the Candy Axe, but the catch is that getting it was way harder, as you had to buy Fortnite merch at GameStop for a chance to snag it.
4. Velocity Edge
- Release date: Jul 3, 2023
A sleek, futuristic design with neon colors, resembling the clean and smooth edges of a jet fighter. Exclusively for players using Amazon Luna, the Velocity Edge is super rare since not many people use Luna to play Fortnite. If you’re lucky enough to have it, keep it in your collection because it might never return.
5. Wavecrest
- Release date: Nov 14, 2020
It’s a clean, silver-blue design with wave-like patterns. It almost looks like it could belong to a pirate ship, but it’s sleek enough for a tech genius. If you bought an Intel CPU back in 2020, you could’ve unlocked the Wavecrest pickaxe. It was one of the rarest Intel exclusives and hasn’t been seen since.
6. The Destroyer’s Destroyer
- Release date: Mar 10, 2023
A powerful, dark, and techy design with sharp edges and a glowing, futuristic vibe. This bad boy was only available to GeForce Now users who logged in during a specific time window. As one of the rare Nvidia-exclusive pickaxes, the Destroyer is one for the hardcore fans who played on mobile.

The Lucky Lance has a clean, gold aesthetic with a four-leaf clover design on the top, perfect for those who love good fortune. This one is a throwback to Chapter 3’s summer event, and despite not being the most popular pickaxe when it dropped, it’s now one of the rarest.
10. AC/DC
- Release date: Dec 14, 2017
This electric guitar-inspired pickaxe crackles with lightning and energy, making it look like it’s about to rock the entire Fortnite island. A sharp, sleek dual-blade design with a beautiful indigo color that makes them look both dangerous and elegant. These beauties are part of the Indigo Kuno set, and like all tournament-related rewards, they’re rare.
12. Marshy Smasher

13. Leviathan Axe
- Release date: Dec 4, 2020
This axe has a massive, sharp design with intricate Norse markings and a glowing red aura. It’s like you’re wielding a piece of mythology. Who doesn’t want to swing Kratos’ iconic Leviathan Axe? It hasn’t been available for almost 5 years, and fans are still clamoring for it to return.
