A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is building to a dramatic conclusion at the Ashford Meadow tourney.

Hedge Knight Ser Duncan the Tall, and his young squire Egg had plans to prove the former’s bravery at the tournament, and make some money in the process.

But disaster struck when Dunk got into a fight with Aerion, which was halted when Egg revealed himself to be royalty. Meaning the Westeros stage is set for a showdown between hero and villain this weekend…

How many episodes are there?

There are six episodes in the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Here’s when each instalment drops, as well as all episode titles:

What happened in Episode 4?

Episode 4 – confusingly titled ‘Seven’ – sees Duncan freed from prison, and made to fight against Aerion in a Trial by Seven, but finding six knights to stand alongside him on the battlefield proves to be easier said than done.

The fourth episode kicks off with Egg visiting Ser Duncan in jail and explaining that he was supposed to both spy on him and keep him away from town, neither of which he did.

Baelor summons Dunk and tells him that as well as facing consequences for attacking Aerion, he’s been accused of kidnapping Egg by Daeron.

Aerion says he wants Duncan’s head, and if not his hand and foot, but Dunk requests his right to Trail by Combat. Instead, he’s offered a ‘Trial of Seven,’ meaning Dunk must find six other knights to fight alongside him in a battle at dawn.

Ser Duncan then tries to convince other warriors to stand alongside him, and soon seemingly has Steffon, Daeron, Laekar, and three Kingsguard in his corner.

He collects his shield and armor from Steely Pate, and takes to the jousting field, where Steffon switches sides to fight alongside Aerion, and Raymun is knighted to take his cousin’s place. But that leaves Dunk one short.

He makes an impassioned plea to the crowd, asking “Who will stand and fight with me?” and asking “if courage has deserted the noble houses of Westeros.”

No one steps forward, but just as all seems lost, Baelor enters on horseback and says he will take Ser Duncan’s side, because he protected the innocent as every true knight should.

As the iconic Game of Thrones theme tune kicks in, the 14 warriors prepare for battle.
