Happy Gilmore 2 is a long overdue sequel to one of the most beloved comedies of the 1990s – here’s when and where you can watch the movie.
The first Happy Gilmore revolved around a former ice hockey player who discovered a talent for golf, and turned the sport upside down by causing trouble both on and off the course as he rose through the ranks.
The movie was a hit for Adam Sandler – who both starred co-wrote (alongside Tim Herlihy) – back in 1996, and there’s been talk of a sequel ever since.
But it’s taken more than 30 years to make Happy Gilmore 2 happen, thanks to the backing of a streamer, and with cameos galore.
Happy Gilmore 2 premieres on Netflix at 12am PT / 3am ET on June 25, 2025. If you’re outside the US, we’ve listed other time zones for you below:
- 4am Brazil
- 8am UK
- 9am Central European Summer Time
- 12:30pm India Standard Time
- 5pm Australia
- 7pm New Zealand
What is Happy Gilmore 2 about?
No official synopsis has been released, but going by the trailer, Happy Gilmore 2 sees the title character no longer at the top of his game, but returning to tournament golf to put his daughter through ballet school.
We see Gilmore employing a clueless new caddie called Oscar, and reigniting his war of words with arch-nemesis (and sh*t-eater) Shooter McGavin.
Sandler recently revealed that the plot was retooled when Carl Weather – who played Happy’s mentor Chubbs – died in 2024.
“We had a painful change. Carl Weathers had a massive part,” Sandler told Collider. “I would talk to Carl, and we were excited, and then Carl passed away. We had to rewrite a lot of the stuff, and even what the story was. We made a lot of nice references to how great Chubbs was in the movie. That was the biggest change.”
Chubbs son appears in Happy Gilmore 2 – and the above trailer – where he’s played by Breaking Bad star Lavell Crawford.
