The apocalypse might have wreaked havoc across the planet, but the world is far from over… And Paradise Season 2 Episode 1 is on the horizon. Yes, Sterling K. Brown is back as Special Agent Xavier Collins after Hulu’s first season delivered a post-apocalyptic whodunnit tale packed with twists and turns.
The binge-worthy first season made a splash back in January 2025 with the ambitious premiere episode, which follows Collins as he investigates the murder of US President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) in an idyllic town.
The episode’s closing moments revealed that the town is actually all that is left of American society in a huge underground bunker after an Antarctic supervolcanic eruption has devastated the planet. Yes, it’s a political thriller wrapped up in a post-apocalyptic setting. It’s like The West Wing meets Fallout (just without gunslingers and monsters).
The first season ended with the revelation that the outside world isn’t quite as destroyed as the bunker inhabitants were led to believe, as Collins heads out on a mission to find his wife Teri (Enuka Okuma). Here’s when you can watch Paradise Season 2 Episode 1.
Paradise Season 2 Episode 1 will start streaming on Monday, February 23 at 12 am PT/3 am ET. It will be available on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK. Fans will be able to watch the first three episodes of the new season before the show switches back to the weekly release model.
Here’s what time it will go live in other countries:
- 8am UK
- 9am Central European Summer Time
- 10am Eastern European Summer Time
- 1.30pm India
- 5pm Tokyo
- 7pm Sydney
How many episodes are there in Paradise Season 2?
There are eight episodes in Paradise Season 2, just like the first season. The mystery behind the President’s death in the bunker was solved in the finale: it was the librarian, who wanted revenge for the death of the construction workers who built the bunker!
Now, the show’s sophomore season is expanding the world following the reveal that many people survived the Antarctic conditions that enveloped the world for three years after “The Day.”
Creator Dan Fogelman hinted at what to expect from the new episodes when speaking to Deadline. “It’s fair to say we solved all the questions about what the bunker is and why it was created in Season 1, but there’s kind of a deepening of it as you get into Season 2 and what’s really behind it all,” he explained.
“There’s more science fiction in it in the second season intentionally than even was in the first. And that involves climate change and science and the things that were coming behind it. There is more of that kind of survivalist [story]. How did the people that made it out in the world outside of the bunker do it?”
Who is in the Paradise Season 2 cast?
Most of the cast are reprising their roles in Paradise Season 2, although there are a few newcomers to the world as Collins explores the brave new world outside of the bunker.
Big Little Lies star Shailene Woodley has joined the show in a mysterious role which is being kept under wraps, but she’s playing one of the survivors out in the world who Collins meets on his journey. Here’s who else to expect in the new episodes:
- Sterling K. Brown as Special Agent Xavier Collins
- Julianne Nicholson as Samantha “Sinatra” Redmond
- Sarah Shahi as Dr. Gabriela Torabi
- Nicole Brydon Bloom as Agent Jane Driscoll
- Thomas Doherty as Link, the leader of a biker gang
- Aliyah Mastin as Presley Collins
- Percy Daggs IV as James Collins
- Krys Marshall as Agent Nicole Robinson
