Task Episode 7 is going to have to pick up the pieces after the bloody sixth episode of the HBO Max series, so be sure to find out what time it drops on HBO Max. Warning: spoilers ahead!
The gritty HBO series raised the stakes higher than just a simple game of cops and robbers in the first half of Episode 6. The shootout and ensuing fight between the FBI task force, Robbie Prendergrast (Tom Pelphrey), and the Dark Hearts gang left two major characters dead.
While Agent Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) survived, Prendergrast was stabbed by biker leader Jayson (Sam Keeley) and died after bleeding out from his wounds. It’s shocking since the drama in Task revolved around the chase between Brandis and Prendergrast, and the latter’s death definitely complicates things.
To make matters worse, Lizzie (Alison Oliver), the inexperienced state patrol officer, gets run over by Jayson and Perry (Jamie McShane) as they flee the scene, and she dies soon after. So, the two shocking deaths are setting the stage for a dramatic finale in Task Episode 7.
Task Episode 7 will be available to stream on HBO Max at 6pm PT/9pm ET on Sunday, October 19.

How many episodes of Task are there?
There are only seven episodes of the series, and the next episode will wrap things up. There’s a lot to tackle, and while it’s being advertized as a limited series, showrunner Brad Inglesby hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a follow-up, or even a crossover with his 2021 thriller Mare of Easttown.
“I think there were still more stories to be told about people in Delaware County,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “They exist in the same world, so it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Mare walked into a Wawa that Tom was in. I don’t have a story in mind that’s a crossover, but I love the idea of their worlds intersecting.”
What happened in Task Episode 6?
After Prendergrast and Lizzie’s deaths, the FBI launches an investigation into the taskforce to uncover how the Dark Hearts have been able to stay one step ahead of the authorities.
Audiences already know that Anthony Grasso (Fabien Frankel) is the Dark Hearts mole, but Brandis only figures out that he’s responsible after learning about previous cases Grasso handled involving the gang. Clearly it’s all leading to Grasso paying the price for his crimes.
