After the impeccable premiere of The Pitt Season 2, Episode 2 – aka ‘8:00 A.M.’ – is just around the corner. So you don’t miss any of the action, be sure to take note of its exact release date and time on HBO Max.
The Pitt’s award-winning debut chapter turned out to be one of the best TV shows of 2025, offering up a fictional yet realistic look behind the curtain of a 15-hour shift at a US emergency department.
Less than one year later, Season 2 has arrived, with Episode 1 bringing back the fan favorite staff alongside a host of newcomers, including Dr. Robby’s temporary replacement, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi.
If you can’t wait to see what happens in the next hour of their Fourth of July shift, you can find all the streaming details below, as well as a recap of the first hour.
There’s not long to wait, as The Pitt Season 2 Episode 2 drops on HBO Max on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
As it’s an HBO Max original, the only way to watch it right now is on streaming. Season 1 aired on linear TV in December 2025 on TNT, but there’s no news right now on whether the same situation will unfold with the second chapter.
If you’re outside the US or any region that doesn’t offer HBO Max, there is a way to watch it: by using a VPN. You’ll still need a subscription to the streaming service, but you can do this by using a gift card to pay for it or via on-demand platforms such as Amazon Prime.

What happened in Season 2 Episode 1?
The Pitt Season 2 Episode 1 opens on a busy Fourth of July shift at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Dr. Robby prepares for sabbatical and meets his replacement Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, Dr. Langdon returns post-rehab, new students are introduced, and an abandoned baby triggers an unsettling reaction.
The new chapter takes place around ten months after the events of Season 1, dropping viewers straight into the chaos of The Pitt. Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) is set to take over from Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) as he prepares for a three-month break, motorcycling across the country.
Soon enough, he’s confronted with changes, as Al-Hashimi’s leadership style and her plans for AI-assisted workflow immediately contrast with Robby’s intuitive, experience-based approach.
Their early disagreements – like whether to refer to the hospital as “The Pitt” – soon start to surface. Elsewhere, we’re thrown into a series of medical cases and character arcs.
Firstly, Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) returns after completing rehab for his benzodiazepine addiction but is kept at arm’s length by Robby, who assigns him to triage. Meanwhile, his biggest fan Dr. Mel (Taylor Dearden) is dealing with stress outside the ward, as she’s been named in a malpractice lawsuit and is preparing for an upcoming deposition.
Despite her plans to leave after being assaulted in The Pitt Season 1, Nurse Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) returns to duty, accompanied by new nurse Emma Nolan (Laëtitia Hollard), who is swiftly brought under Dana’s wing.
The episode introduces new medical students too: Joy Kwon (Irene Choi) and James Ogilvie (Lucas Iverson), each bringing new dynamics to the already packed medical center.
On the patient front, a string of cases tests the team: an unhoused man, a nun with gonorrhea, the return of Louie Cloverfield (Ernest Harden Jr.), and a young girl Dr. Santos (Isa Briones) suspects may be experiencing abuse at home.
At the end of the episode, Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) presents test results from an abandoned baby found at the hospital, causing Dr. Al-Hashimi to suddenly freeze and dissociate – although it’s unclear what caused her reaction.
