A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 might be over, but there’s good news, as Season 2 is officially in the works.

With the Trial of Seven over and Dunk and Egg on the road together once again, the next season will be an adaptation of ‘The Sworn Sword,’ the second of the novellas.

Dunk will once again have his knightly ideals put to the test when they come into conflict with Westeros’ nobility, so here’s everything you need to know about AKotSK Season 2’s plot and characters.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 plot explained

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will take place roughly a year and a half after Season 1, with Dunk and Egg in the Reach, serving Ser Eutsace Osgrey. Although an old and noble house, the Osgreys haven’t been lords in centuries, and they own little more than a tower house.

There’s a terrible drought, and on returning with wine for Ser Eustace, they discover the nearby stream has dried up. Dunk doesn’t believe the drought caused it and investigates with Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, another hedge knight in Eustace’s service.

The two discover that Lady Webber, a nearby landowner with a frightening reputation, has ordered a dam built, which has cut off the Osgrey water supply. Ser Bennis cuts one of the workers who refuses to take the dam down, and it all escalates from there.

Of course, it’s not as simple as it seems, but we won’t spoil the rest of the plot here.

“We’re now getting into The Sworn Sword, which is my favorite novella in many ways, with Rohanne Webber or the Red Widow, Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace, who are these classic characters,” showrunner Ira Parker told The A.V. Club. “I can’t say much but we have three absolutely brilliant actors coming in to do these roles. I’m excited.”

Which cast members will return?

If A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 follows the book closely, only Peter Claffey (Dunk) and Dexter Sol Ansell (Egg) will return.

The novellas are almost an anthology series, set in new locations with new characters, with Dunk and Egg the only constant. In Season 2, Lady Webber, Ser Bennis, and Ser Eustace will make up the supporting cast.

However, with so many of Season 1’s cast becoming fan-favorites, including Daniel Ings (Lyonel Baratheon), Sam Spruell (Maekar Targaryen), and Shaun Thomas (Raymun Fossoway), we may see these characters given fresh material to keep them around.
