Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 is the next major update for the popular hero shooter, bringing a fresh map and even a new character to the roster.
Although the player count has dropped slightly in recent weeks, Marvel Rivals is still one of the most popular multiplayer games around. This is thanks in no small part to its regular updates, with Season 2 introducing the Hellfire Gala theme and adding Emma Frost to the character lineup.
But the next patch is never too far away, and the mid-season update is set to double down with plenty more content. So, here’s everything we know about Season 2.5, including when it’s due to arrive.
The Season 2.5 update is due to drop on Friday, May 30, 2025, based on the schedule we’ve seen previously in Marvel Rivals. Every season lasts three months, and since Season 2 got underway on April 11, this would be the halfway point.
This date was backed up by a leak from trusted insider Miller Ross, so all signs are pointing to a May 30 release.
However, there’s still every chance of a delay, so we’ll keep you posted.
Ultron coming in Season 2.5
The biggest addition in Season 2.5 is Ultron, a brand-new character who has been rumored ever since the game launched. He was first revealed back in the Season 2 trailer, but with Emma Frost being introduced first, NetEase are saving the legendary villain for mid-season.
His kit hasn’t been confirmed officially, but leaks have revealed that he’ll be a Strategist with the following weapons and abilities:
Weapon
Encephalo-Ray
- Unleash a burning energy beam
Passive
Algorithm Correction
- Hold Space/X/A to fall slowly
Abilities
Dynamic Flight
- Fly quickly in the direction of movement and then enter a free-flight mode
Imperative: Patch
- Command a giant drone to follow an ally, constantly healing allies in its radius, with additional healing for the designated ally
Imperative: Firewall
- Summon drones to grant bonus health to allies within range, centered on himself and the ally marked with Imperative: Patch
Ultimate
- Summon Ultron Drones to fire Encephalo-Rays, damaging enemies or healing allies
Arakko map
On top of the new hero, a new map will be added, set on the island of Arakko. This could be spotted briefly in the Season 2 announcement trailer, and leaks have since confirmed that it will be the latest Convoy map thrown into the pool.
In Marvel lore, Arakko is the darker sister island of Krakoa, the home of mutants. The two sentient islands were once a single entity, before being split into two and Arakko was sealed away for many years, making it and its inhabitants far more aggressive on their return.
We’re still waiting for a full reveal, but players can expect the map to be much less inviting than Krakoa.
