After one of the most explosive premieres in South Park history, the world is waiting for Season 27 Episode 2 – but there’s been an unexpected delay, so here’s exactly when you can watch it.
The future of the foul-mouthed animated series had been on shaky ground before Season 27 Episode 1 landed due to a long-running bidding war between Paramount and Warner Bros.
However, Trey Parker and Matt Stone finalized a $1.5 billion licensing deal with Paramount Plus last week, meaning all 26 seasons are now on the streaming service, and new episodes will head there after airing on Comedy Central.
End of story, right? Well, no. South Park Season 27 is facing another delay, so here’s what you need to know.
When is South Park Season 27 Episode 2 out?
South Park Season 27 Episode 2 was due to release on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. But the show has confirmed a week-long delay, announcing that it will now drop on Wednesday, August 6 instead.
So, the second episode of the latest chapter will air on the new release date at 10pm ET/9pm CT on Comedy Central. It will then be available for streaming on Thursday, August 7 at 6am ET/5am CT.
In its place, a rerun of Season 27 Episode 1 will air on July 30, so be sure to tune in if you’re a cable subscriber and fancy another watch of the chaotic premiere.
South Park Season 27 delay explained
Although Season 27 Episode 1 ripped POTUS Donald Trump to shreds, the Episode 2 delay is unlikely tied to controversy, and the same goes for the bidding war, as this was resolved. Instead, it’s presumably due to Trey and Parker’s creative process.
South Park has always been made on an ultra-fast turnaround, with episodes written, animated, and voiced in just a matter of days. This allows them to respond in real time to current events, but it also means delays aren’t unusual.
The creators addressed this at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 last week, saying, “I don’t know what next week’s episode is going to be. Even just three days ago, we were like, ‘I don’t know if people are going to like this.’”
Trey Parker and Matt Stone respond to White House backlash
At least we can expect the next episode to land next week. Until then, Trey and Park have faced scrutiny from the White House after depicting Trump in a sexual relationship with Satan, as well as having a “teeny-tiny” penis and suing just about everyone.
At the end of Episode 1, a Trump PSA shows a real-life version of the president naked in the desert, accompanied by an animated (and comically small) manhood. The narrator then says the slogan: “Trump. His penis is teeny-tiny, but his love for us is large.”
Following the premiere, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement, “This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.”
At Comic-Con, Parker responded to the criticism with a deadpan stare, “We’re terribly sorry.” The South Park creators went on to describe how they convinced the producers to avoid blurring the realistic penis in the show.
“If we put eyes on the penis, we won’t blur it,” said Stone. “That was a whole conversation with grown-up people for four f**king days.”
On Tuesday, July 29, the show’s X/Twitter account shared a behind-the-scenes look at this moment, which reveals that it wasn’t fully AI-generated. A real actor standing in for Trump can be seen laying in the desert, while Parker leans in and holds a finger up to represent his penis.
In response, one fan wrote, “What. I thought that scene was 100% AI?” Another asked, “Am I about to make myself look like an idiot? I thought they made this scene using an AI.”
A third joked, “I heard that Satan is suing South Park for damaging his likeness. He said that him being depicted with Trump caused irreparable damage to his image.”
What will Episode 2 be about?
It looks like Parker and Stone aren’t done with Trump just yet. In the Season 27 Episode 2 trailer, the animated version of the POTUS continues trying to seduce Satan.
Right-wing activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk also gets his moment, with Cartman doing his best impression of him as he says, “You can just shut up, Bebe, because you hate America and you love abortion.”
And that’s not all, as Mr. Mackey is shown tagging along on some ICE raids. The teaser has received plenty of praise from fans, who are happy to see South Park isn’t holding back after all these years.
“You can’t cancel what is uncancelable. These guys are the real heroes of America,” wrote one, while another said, “Cartman becomes Charlie Kirk and Mr. Mackey joins ICE? This is gonna be a really good season.”
A third added, “Damn this season is just ramping up the stakes higher and higher,” while a fourth chimed in, “The fact that we all feel bad for Satan is a microcosm of why South Park rocks.”
