If you were hoping to tune into South Park Season 27 Episode 6 tonight after last week’s explosive return, we have some news for you.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone have not been holding back. The very first episode of South Park’s latest chapter featured an explicit PSA involving Donald Trump, and it’s been chaos ever since.
So far, we’ve seen Randy turn into a ket-sniffing tech bro, Kristi Noem shooting Krypto the dog, FCC chairman Brendan Carr losing his freedom of speech, and the actual US president impregnating Satan.
The good news is that thanks to the creators’ deal with Paramount, Season 27 will have 10 episodes – the longest it’s been since 2019. However, you will need to wait before tuning into the next installment.
When is South Park Season 27 Episode 6 out?
South Park Season 27 Episode 6 will now drop on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 10pm ET/9pm CT on Comedy Central. It will then be available for streaming on Thursday, October 16 at 6am ET/5am CT.
In its place, Comedy Central is hosting a full day of reruns, including last week’s Season 27 Episode 5, ‘Conflict of Interest’. Then, at 10.30pm ET, Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head Season 3 Episode 6 airs, followed by tonight’s The Daily Show at 11pm ET.
If Season 27 had followed its original release schedule, Episode 6 would have premiered on August 27, so why is it now arriving in mid-October?
South Park Season 27 delay explained
The reason for the delay is simple: Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and their team need more time to make the show as good as it needs to be.
Season 27 was originally due to follow a weekly release schedule, although this was wishful thinking on all sides. The long-running series is made on an ultra-fast turnaround timeframe, with episodes written, animated, and voiced in just a matter of days.
This allows the South Park team to respond in real time to current events, but it also means delays aren’t unusual.
After the first couple of Season 27 episodes had a two-week gap, an insider told Deadline, “What they’re doing means this year’s episodes need more time than usual to put together, to finish.
“So much happens right now in just one day with Trump. No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to push getting it to air, and if that makes the season longer, so be it.”
An insider at Skydance’s Paramount added, “We’re not going to argue with what’s working. The numbers are great, the show is getting a lot of attention – if they want to give us a 20-week season for 10-episodes, that’s OK.”
Then, the gap got longer, with three weeks between Episodes 4-5. A lot happened in the news cycle at that time, from Charlie Kirk’s death (which led to reruns of South Park’s Cartman Kirk episode being pulled from Comedy Central) to the controversial Jimmy Kimmel suspension.
As such, South Park fans were on tenterhooks on September 17, when Episode 5 was due to land. However, at the last minute, the following announcement was made: “South Park to continue on Wednesday, September 24th at 10pm ET/PT On Comedy Central.”
Parker and Stone also issued the following statement: “Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don’t get it done. This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!”
Even though delays are common, there was speculation that the creators were facing censorship threats, especially after the Kimmel controversy, and the fact that the Paramount/Skydance merger required FCC approval.
But Stone confirmed to The Denver Post that there was no censorship involved. “No one pulled the episode, no one censored us, and you know we’d say so if true,” he explained.
“We just didn’t get it done. When you always cut it close, sometimes you mess up. That’s the price of being a procrastinator.”
Full Season 27 release schedule
The statement came with an updated release schedule, which revealed Episodes 5 and 6 will have a three-week gap, before switching back to two weeks.
So, the remaining episodes will air on Comedy Central on the following dates:
- Episode 6 – October 15
- Episode 7 – October 29
- Episode 8 – November 12
- Episode 9 – November 26
- Episode 10 – December 10
They will then be available for streaming on Paramount+ the day after their respective premieres.
Season 27 Episode 6 theories
Given South Park episodes are made in real-time, Parker and Stone themselves likely don’t fully know what Season 27 Episode 6 will be about just yet – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t theories.
Since Satan is about to give birth to his “butt baby” (unless Trump succeeds in getting rid of it), a number of fans are hoping to see the return of a character we haven’t seen in years: Damien.
“I hope that Damien returns because he will have a step sibling,” wrote one fan, while another said, “We need to see Damien again. Haven’t seen him since Stick of Truth.” A third added, “I want to see who plays the baby.”
Others are hoping to see Towelie saved from the White House, with one writing, “They need to rescue Towelie,” and a second chiming in, “All I know is I hope Towelie is safe and not being taken advantage of.”
There are also plenty of comments from viewers addressing the fact that Parker and Stone have too much to satirize.
One Redditor shared this week’s news about the AI actress Tilly Norwood, writing, “I feel like they’d need 30 episodes to satirize all the crazy going on this year.”
“Man, they’re going to have so much content to work with over the next four years,” said another, with a third commenting, “Please put in a bit about Satan not being allowed to take Tylenol.”
