With James Gunn’s Superman clocking in at over two hours, here’s the best time to visit the restroom if have to go.
There’s a new Superman in cinemas, with David Corenswet playing the Man of Steel, and writer-director James Gunn launching his DC Universe off the back of it.
The film has received rave write-ups, and we wrote in our Superman review that: “This is a Superman movie unlike any you’ve seen before; for (mostly) better and (barely) worse. It’s epic, emotional, and proof that the Man of Steel isn’t boring; by the end, you’ll believe that James Gunn’s DCU can fly. Look up, and look forward to what’s next.”
But it also clocks in at 2 hours and 9 minutes, and should you need a comfort break during that time, we’ve figured out the best time to go. Meaning SPOILERS ahead…
Hit the loo when Superman heads home
We don’t recommend a bathroom visit during Superman, as it’s an action-packed movie that’s filled with characters, plot, and spectacle. But if you are absolutely bursting, the best time to go is around the 1 hour and 20 minutes mark.
That’s just past the halfway point of the movie, and the moment where the Man of Steel takes a breather.
Having fought his way out of Lex Luthor’s ‘Pocket Universe,’ Superman needs a place to rest, so he heads home to Ma and Pa Kent’s farmhouse with Lois.
While Krypto messes about with a cow, Clark gets some hard-earned sleep, only to be woken by a cockerel.
He then shares a moment with his father on the porch, during which Clark expresses concern about his own identity, and not knowing who he is. Dad says “actions make you who you are,” tells his son that he’s proud of him, and they share a hug.
It’s a touching moment that gives us a better understanding of the title character, and the scene is beautifully played by Corenswet and Pruitt Taylor Vince.
But now you know what happens, you can pop out for the duration, then be back in your seat in time for footage of Boravian troops assembling on the news, and Superman being told to “Go get ’em.”
Superman is in cinemas now. To see how those 2 hours and 9 minutes compare with other Man of Steel movies, here’s the all the Superman runtimes. While you can head here to find out where Superman will stream.
