Zootopia 2 raked in $1.7 billion at the box office, which means there’s plenty of people who are desperate to know when the hit animated sequel will be released on Disney Plus… Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
The second movie arrived almost a decade after the original 2016 film. The sequel reunites rabbit police officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and her partner, con artist-turned-police fox Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) as they hunt Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan) across the world.
Zootopia 2 boasts a huge number of stars and cameos, with names like Dwayne Johnson, Ed Sheeran, Macaulay Culkin, Jenny Slate, Idris Elba, and Alan Tudyk all voicing some of the animals who pop up throughout the adventure.
Considering the huge success of the sequel, it’s no surprise that directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard teased that they’re already kicking around ideas for a third film. But until then, here’s when you can expect to see Zootopia 2 on Disney Plus.
When is Zootopia 2 on Disney Plus?
Zootopia 2 should be released on Disney+ between April and June 2026. Although Disney hasn’t announced its streaming debut yet, the studio typically waits around three or four months to release its latest blockbusters onto the platform. For example, Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps was released in July 2025, and arrived on Disney+ in November later in the year.
The exception to this model is Avatar: The Way of Water. Disney waited almost six months before putting the sequel onto streaming, but this was because the sequel had an extended theatrical run due to the huge financial success it had at the time.
With that in mind, it’s possible that the company might wait a little longer since Zootopia 2 was such a financial hit.
How to watch Zootopia 2
While there are a handful of theatrical showings still available for Zootopia 2, the sequel is now available to rent and purchase digitally at home on platforms like Amazon Prime and Apple TV. Zootopia 2 costs $24.99 to rent the digital version, or $29.99 to buy it, and it’s clear which option is better value for money.
But fans who prefer physical media will have to wait a little longer for the Zootopia 2 home release, as the DVD and 4K Blu-Ray editions of the sequel won’t arrive on shelves until March 3, 2026.
