George Clooney says he moved his kids to a farm in France because he was worried about how the culture of Hollywood might affect them.

The Wolfs and Ocean’s Eleven star married human rights lawyer Amal Clooney in 2014, and the actor has made a conscious effort to keep his career and his personal life separate.

Clooney previously opened up about his relationship on David Letterman’s Netflix series in 2018, saying “I met someone who her life meant more to me than my life. And I’d never had that experience before.”

The pair welcomed twins, Alexander and Ella, in 2017, and here’s why they decided to raise them on a French farm instead of the dazzling lights of tinseltown.

George Clooney was concerned about his kids being compared to other famous children

For Clooney, the biggest concern about raising his children in Hollywood was the attention they would inevitably receive because of who their parents are.

“I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood,” he tells Esquire. “I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France — they kind of don’t give a shi* about fame.

“I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”

Clooney, who will next play a fictional actor in the Netflix movie Jay Kelly, admitted that he hated growing up on a farm, but the remote location gives his children a better attitude.

“A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid I hated the whole idea of it. But now, for them, it’s like — they’re not on their iPads, you know?

“They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.”
