Jujutsu Kaisen has been building towards dramatic scenes in the Culling Arc, but for reasons typical of anime series, there’s no Episode 8 this week.
Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen has been an adaptation of Greg Akutami’s Culling Arc, which is a deadly sorcerer battle royal, created by Kenjaku.
New characters have been introduced over the course of the new season, while new curses have wreaked havoc.
Episode 7 – titled ‘Tokyo Colony No. 1’ – dropped as usual last week, but don’t expect Episode 8 this week.
Why is there no Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 8 this week?
There’s no Season 3 Episode 8 this week because Jujutsu Kaisen is going on a break. But have no fear, the show will be back next week to continue the Culling Games story.
This kind of break is typical in the world of anime, as production schedules are tight, and episodes are sometimes completed very close to their air date.
A break helps to prevent burnout in animators, and gives them time to complete key scenes, correct their work, and maintain quality.
JJK director Hiromi Niwa addresses delay
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 chief animation director Hiromi Niwa addressed the delay on social media, stating that it’s a good time for a recap episode to catch everyone up.
“Having a recap episode right when Itadori and the others fully join the Culling Game is helpful,” wrote Niwa. “Since it lets us review everyone’s goals and feelings.”
He added that “binge-watching is great, but it’s also fun for everyone to keep pace and enjoy it together in real time.”
Niwa also thinks that now is a good time to join the JJK party, writing: “I can’t wait for people to watch Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 55 (Episode 8 of this season). Honestly, even people who’ve never watched Jujutsu Kaisen before are totally welcome.
“I almost want them to jump in starting from Episode 55. And for that, next week’s recap will be perfect for getting a rough overview.”
When will Episode 8 drop?
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 7 should drop on Crunchyroll on February 26, 2026, at 9am PT / 12pm ET.
