Slow Horses Season 5 Episode 6 featured an explosive finale, and there’s a good reason why there’s no Episode 7 this week.

Based on Mick Heron’s hugely popular series of novels, Slow Horses has become one of the most talked about shows on Apple TV.

The series stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, an ageing spook who heads up a unit for disgraced MI5 agents, working out of a building called Slough House.

Slow Horses Season 5 saw his team endeavouring to take down a terrorist cell, though that story won’t be continuing this week. SPOILERS ahead…

Why there’s no episode of Slow Horses Season 5 Episode 7 this week

There’s no Slow Horses Season 5 Episode 7 this week because Episode 6 was the series finale.

That’s consistent with what’s come before, as all five seasons of Slow Horses have consisted of six episodes.

Episode 6 saw the Slow Horses take down the Libyan terrorists at the Abbostfield memorial, then during Whelan’s jog.

Whelan then tries to blame Slough House and close it down, but Lamb instead blackmails him, forcing Whelan to accept the blame, resign, and keep the Slow Horses in business. Which sets the wheels in motion for next season…

Will there be a Slow Horses Season 6?

Yes, Slow Horses Season 6 is being made, and will arrive on Apple TV sometime in 2026.

The season is based on Mick Herron’s ‘Joe Country’ novel from 2019, which has the following synopsis:

“In Slough House, the backwater for failed spies, memories are stirring, all of them bad. Catherine Standish is buying booze again, Louisa Guy is raking over the ashes of lost love, and new recruit Lech Wicinski, whose sins make him outcast even among the slow horses, is determined to discover who destroyed his career, even if he tears his life apart in the process.

“With winter taking its grip Jackson Lamb would sooner be left brooding in peace, but even he can’t ignore the dried blood on his carpets. So when the man responsible for killing a slow horse breaks cover at last, Lamb sends his crew out to even the score. This time, they’re heading into joe country. And they’re not all coming home.”

Most of the series has clearly been filmed, as a Season 6 trailer played at the end of Season 5, in which Jackson Lamb explains that the Slow Horses are after a file that contains all their names, resulting in them being hunted.

The footage features a funeral – of whom we don’t know – and the return of River’s father Frank Harkness, again played by Hugo Weaving.

And it doesn’t end there, with Season 7 also green-lit, and based on the book ‘Slough House.’
