Markiplier ensured 2026 started off with a bang by releasing his indie horror movie hit Iron Lung in theaters. But if you’re waiting to watch the video game adaptation on streaming, we have some good news and some bad news.
Even before it premiered, Iron Lung had all the hallmarks of success. After huge fan demand, it was picked up by cinema giants AMC, Cinemark, and Regal and scored an international release through the UK’s Cineworld.
Tickets were selling out in “minutes,” and following its premiere at the end of January, the new movie has earned more than $44 million at the global box office – against a $3 million budget.
This is made all the more impressive by the fact that Iron Lung is self-financed, written, directed, executive produced, and edited by Mark Fischbach, aka Markiplier, who first announced the project back in 2023. But this also makes streaming a little trickier to predict.
Will Iron Lung be on streaming?
The good news is that yes, the plan is for the Iron Lung movie to be available on streaming. The bad news is that there’s no streaming release date just yet.
Unlike most box office hits, Iron Lung isn’t backed by any of the major studios, which have pre-existing deals with streaming services or their own platforms, like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, or HBO Max.
As it’s independently financed, there’s no automatic home for it on a specific platform, meaning any streaming release will depend on a separate licensing agreement still to be announced.
Earlier this month, when celebrating that Iron Lung was the top performing movie in the US, Markiplier said in a YouTube video, “We’re still getting the wheels turning for you to get it at home.
“The whole translation thing, it’s going to take some doing. I have some plans underway.”
Among the plans are for the horror – based on David Szymanski’s indie game of the same name – to get a digital release, meaning you’ll be able to purchase or rent it via on-demand platforms such as Prime Video.
Like traditional movies, it will most likely arrive on streaming platforms later down the line, but it’s unknown whether Markiplier will strike up a deal with a company like Netflix or Hulu, or if he’ll simply drop it on his YouTube channel.
But just know that he is working on it. “There’s a lot of systems that I got to learn, and I have some guidance that’s going to help me through that,” he continued.
“But we’re still doing it independently from start to finish. This project will be independent the whole way through and I think that’s pretty cool.”
How to watch it now
As of February 17, 2026, the only way to watch Iron Lung right now is in movie theaters.
The horror film was originally meant to have a very limited release, but due to its huge success and fan demand, this was extended earlier this month.
Although some sites predicted the run would end over Valentine’s Day weekend, this wasn’t the case. You’ll still find showtimes all over the US.
If you want to see Iron Lung or give it a rewatch, you can head to the official website’s ‘Buy Tickets’ section here or other aggregator sites like Fandango here or Atom Tickets here. Simply add in your location and it will show you the closest showtimes.
Alternatively, you can simply go directly to your preferred cinema chain and do the same thing to see if they have any screenings nearby.
Markiplier promises DVD & Blu-ray release
Alongside the promise of a streaming drop, Markiplier has said the wheels are in motion for Iron Lung to get a DVD and Blu-ray release in the near future.
The news comes amid a rising trend towards physical media, with sales steadily increasing as fans of TV shows and movies favor ownership over precarious digital licenses.
Plus, physical formats like DVD and Blu-ray offer extras such as director commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and collectible packaging.
During his stream, Markiplier said, “As far as getting it [Iron Lung] ready and packaged up for a home release with DVD and Blu-ray… and having it be purchasable digitally or rentable, that is all being worked on. That is all being put underway.”
Again, there’s no DVD and Blu-ray release date for Iron Lung, but at least we know that it’s definitely happening. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as and when new details emerge.
