Wyatt Russell has revealed his hopes for John Walker’s future in the MCU, and they include a buddy comedy with Bucky Barnes, and plans for a job at superhero prison The Raft.

Wyatt Russell made his Marvel debut as John Walker/Captain America/U.S. Agent in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, before continuing that character’s journey in Thunderbolts*.

Walker will next be seen sharing the screen with scores of superheroes and villains in Avengers: Doomsday – which hits screens on December 18, 2026.

And while speaking to Russell about Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, we asked about the potential for a Thunderbolts 2, plus how he’d like to see the character used post-Avengers.

Wyatt Russell wants John Walker to lose an arm and team up with Bucky Barnes

When we asked about John Walker’s potential future, Wyatt Russell revealed he has a storyline in mind that’s ripped straight from the comics:

“I’ve always wanted to get to the point where my character gets his arm ripped off and he’s in a wheelchair and he’s the warden of The Raft, which is the prison superheroes are kept in. So that I can continue my Marvel career sitting in an office.”

He also wants to make a team-up movie with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. “I’d love to do a buddy cop comedy with Sebastian in the Marvel universe,” says Russell. “I love working with those guys. They’re great. And the movies and shows that I’ve been in I’ve been proud of and I think they’re really good.”

Everyone is onboard for Thunderbolts 2

We also asked about a Thunderbolts/ New Avengers sequel, and Russell says that the entire cast is keen to continue that story.

“We all do,” Russell reveals. “They just have to make it for little enough money. I think we’d all do a Thunderbolts movie if it was right. Because they cared about it. [Director] Jake [Schreier] really cared about it. Jake’s doing X-Men now. But they really cared about making a good movie.

“We had such a great time filming it. I think it was a really good movie. I’m really proud of it. Everyone that was in it I can speak for is very proud of it. We loved it. Loved doing it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
